4. The poem “If You Forget Me” is a poem about someone who is skeptical about their relationship with their wife or girlfriend. He/she believed that their and their lover’s actions could lead to the end of their relationship. Everything used to remind he/she of their loved one, but now they feel that once their loved one starts to forget them and their love starts to fade, so will theirs. But if their loved one continues to believe that they are destined for each other, they will always love each other.
ReplyDelete5. The punctuation in the poem did help with my understanding of it. It gave the poem a tone that showed how much concern the author had about their relationship with their loved one. The poem was written in stanzas that helped me to see the authors change in thought about the situation throughout the poem.
6. The author’s use of similes and metaphors helped me understand how the author was feeling about his/her relationship. The words love, forgotten, fire and extinguished stood out to me as I read this poem. The seemed to me to the most important words in the poem to me because they truly revealed what the author was talking about, why, and how he/she felt about it.
4. The poem "If You Forget Me" is about a person who is in a relationship and is unaware of where the relationship is heading. The man or woman is telling their mate that their actions will affect the outcome of the relationship. If they forget them the neglect will be returned. But if they love them that same love will be returned.
ReplyDelete5. In the poem, the lack of alot of punctuation helped me determine the tone the author was setting. It helped me understand the strength in the author's voice and how there is love but also a serious tone.
6. The word love stuck out to me. It helped prove the point and it emphasized the theme of the poem. It seemed like the author was trying to throw the reader off when he spoke about if you love me the love would be returned. The author used many similies and metaphors that also put emphasis on the theme.

4. The poem "If You Forget Me" is a about a young man giving his girlfriend an ultimatum regarding their relationship. He wants the relationship to become more serious and he’s unsure if she wants the same. If his girlfriend isn’t serious about him, he will break up with her. He doesn’t want her to remember him and just move on with her life. However if she is serious about him and does love him, he will stay in the relationship.
ReplyDelete5. The little punctuation that was in the poem did help me understand the poem. The fact that there was commas after almost every line made me slow down and understand that the poem was meant to be read slowly. After reading the poem slowly, I understood that it had a serious tone and was about love.
6.The authors used many metaphors in the poem. My favorite one was “I shall lift my arms
and my roots will set off to seek another land.” This metaphor put emphasis on the seriousness in the poets tone. The words that stuck out to me were love, crystal moon, and sweetness. I felt that these words put empahasis on the theme of love and how the man in the poem felt about the woman he was with.
4.The poem "If You Forget Me" is a about a guy tellhing his girlfriend, that he’s not happy with their relationship. He feels that his girlfriend isn’t serious about him and he doesn’t want to be with her if she doesn’t love him. If they do break up, the guy wants the girl to forget about him.
ReplyDelete5.The punctuation that was in the poem didn’t really help me understand the poem. The poem was not that complicated. Although the commas did help me to slow down so I didn’t get confused.
6.The authors used metaphors in the poem. The word that stuck out to me was love. Love was through out the story and was the theme of the poem. Also love could represent how serious the poem is when it talks about the relationship between the man and the woman
4. The poem "If You Forget Me" is a about a young man skeptical about the path his relationship is heading with his girlfriend. He feels that their relationship needs to become more serious, and he feels that she does not take the relationship seriously. He feels that if she does not take their relationship seriously then he would break up with her. Although if she loves him and starts to take their relationship seriously, then they would stay together.
ReplyDelete5. The third line in the poem helped me out because of the colon, it helped me realize that he was beginning to list things out. After that the poem became a lot more easier to actually give me an image and to understand.
6. The author used a lot of metaphors in the poem. The word that mostly struck me was the word love, and that made me realize that this poem was about a person in love. This told me that the person was talking about a relationship between their significant other. The word told us what the poem would be about.

Step 4: "If You Forget Me"' is about a person who talks about his/her relationship by explaining what reminds them about the relationship, the character in the poem also, says that the love in their relationship is too strong to be forgotten."if I look
ReplyDeleteat the crystal moon, at the red branch
of the slow autumn at my window, if I touch near the fire the impalpable ash or the wrinkled body of the log, everything carries me to you, as if everything that exists, aromas, light, metals, were little boats that sail toward those isles of yours that wait for me."
Step 5: The Fourth stanza helped me understand the storyof the poem, a little more as to why this character feel very emotional. "If you think it long and mad, the wind of banners that passes through my life, and you decide to leave me at the shore of the heart where I have roots, remember that on that day, at that hour, I shall lift my arms and my roots will set off to seek another land."
Step 6: the author used metaphors in the poem, show the theme of the poem, which is love. For example, "ah my love, ah my own, in me all that fire is repeated,in me nothing is extinguished or forgotten." This shows that the charcter cant forget about the relationship no matter what happens.

4)The poem "If You Forget Me" is about a person who is in love but warns the significant other that if he/she decides to leave and forget about the person, the person wil leave and forget about him/her as well.
ReplyDelete5)The structure and punctuation does better my understanding of the poem because the punctuation helps me know the speed of the poem and how fast I should read it. The structure of the poem also helps me with the speed, the stanza help me know when there is a new topic in the poem.
6)No words in particular stand out to me, but the figurative language does. The similes and metaphors helps me understand the poem because I then can make my own similes and metaphors to get a better understanding of the poem.

4. The poem "If You Forget Me" is about a person who is in love. They are unsure about the direction their relationship and how it will end. In the poem the speaker has a serious tone about how they feel the relationship needs to change. They say that everything used to remind them of the person who they are in love with. They feel that if their love continues the way it’s going then they can’t be together although that person feels that they are destined for one another.
ReplyDelete5. The punctuation in the poem helped me understand it a lot more. The short sentences helped me pace the poem, rather than a long run on sentence. The poem is also written in stanza form, which helped me to comprehend it. The tone of the poem was serious, and it was strictly about love.
6. The author used many metaphors such as comparing his heart to roots, and expecting their love to grow. The word that caught my attention throughout this poem was love. The way he uses the word in almost every line shows that he really was in love with this person. It shows us that he was serious and was ready. This poem teaches me to appreciate the word love more, because people constantly misuse it and can get the wrong idea, and end up hurt forever.

The poem "If You Forget Me" is about this person that is expressing his or her feelings about there relationship. The author of this pome starts off by describing this persons feelings towards there lover. The author uses a lot of metaphorical relations to describe how this person feels about the other person, in other words all the words that apply to objects reminds this person of there lover, meaning that he or she in this pome has a strong relationship with this person, because they are constantly thinking about he or she. However this person in the poem also says "if little by little you stop loving me i shall stop loving you little by little." Which means if this person stops showing that same love and compassion that was established in in the beginning of the relation ship, then she and he will slowly drifted apart from each other, and she or he will not show the same love back. The person in the pome is also saying if you, the person she is talking to, suddenly forgets this person then he or she can forget about trying to get back with this person. But if this person winds up being the one that demonstrates unconditional love in every aspect, then they both will be an amazing couple that share the same amount of love for each other. In closing i find this pome to be very beautiful and can be applied to my life and many peoples lives that i know of, i recommend that everyone should read this pome.

Step 4: The poem “If You Forget Me” is about a man who is talking his the woman he loves and explaining the causes of her forgetting him and his love, but also showing how with his love staying in her heart he will always love her.
ReplyDeleteStep 5: The structure of the poem was very easy to follow because the stanzas broke up the new ideas being brought and dint just give me all what he was trying to say in one big stanza. When it’s spaced out its clearer to understand and looks smaller. Another thing that made it easy to understand the poem was the use of punctuation. This allowed me some give way of the tone of the poem.
Step 6: No words really stuck out to me but his word choice was getting across his idea of love and being forgotten. When he says, “If little by little you stop loving me I shall stop loving you little by little.” It expresses how the love must be shared between the two for it to work. However, if its only one loving another then he must not love her at all because to put oneself through the torment that will be brought from is something he is not willing to do.

~ The poem "If Your Forgot Me" is about a man expressing how he would feel and the way things would be if his signifigant other decided to leave him. The man is also stating the love they and happiness they would have if she stayed and continued to love him .
ReplyDelete~ The punctuation in the poem does not make me look at any differently. It is in the form of a stanza, but however that does not change the poem or make me look at it anymore differently than if it was in line form.
~ The words that stand out to me are the ones that describe the kind of love the couple can have if they stay together, such as implacable sweetness and wind of banners. The poem was chosen to challange us as students to dig deeper into a poem rather than just reading it to get the basics of the story. Yes he used metaphors to other things to give you a better visuals and context of the poem.

ReplyDelete5. Punctuation's that were in the poem helped me understand the poem, because it allowed me to pause and understand what i just read more clearly. This pome truly demonstrated a serious tone.
6. the metaphor that stuck out to me the most was " where lttle boats that sail toward those isles of yours that wait for me." This stuck out the most to me because it basically sums up what this beginning part of what this pome is talking about.

4. The poem "If You Forget Me" by Pablo Naruda is about somebody telling his/her love that he/she will reciprocate any act of lovedemonstrated by the other. In other words, if the other was to stop caring so would he/she. And just as well, if the other's love grows then so will he/she.
ReplyDelete5. The clear changes of ideas separated by each stanza was major help in understanding the poem. With this spacing I was able to follow the narrators train of though with ease.
6. what stands out to me about this poem is its selfishness. the narrator essential relinquishes any responsibility of his/her own and putting the weight of their love on the other's shoulder.

4) This poem is about a man who is deeply in love. He is not too sure about the direction this relationship will go in, but he is giving his lover a warning. If their lover starts to lose interest and begins to neglect them, then the same treatment will be given back. On the other hand, if their lover continues to love and support them, then they will be loved in return.
ReplyDelete5) The stucture and punctuation that the author used helped to set the tone of the poem. The poem is broken up into, which makes it easier to read, comprehend, and separate his thoughts from one another. He only used commas and periods, setting a really calm tone. The tone also helps my understanding of the poem altogether. The calmness of the poem shows sincerity and feeling.
6) The author used many metaphors in this poem. One of the ones that suck out the most to me was, "I shall lift my arms and my roots will set off to seek another land." This to me means that the aithor is going to stop loving his lover and go find somebody else. The words that stuck out to me were love and extinguished. Love is a powerful word, and so is extinguished. These words show how serious the poem is.

4. The poem is about the narrator telling the person that he's in a relationship with what will happen if she forgets him. If she ever leaves him or stops loving him, he won't love anymore either. She won't ever be able to get him back if she makes the choice to leave him.
ReplyDelete5. The punctuation in this poem brings out the seriousness of the author and the point he's trying to make. Each stanza is like the beginning of a new paragraph; they each have their own separate ideas. This helps me to focus in on each main point that the narrator is trying to make.
6. The author uses a lot of imagery to allow the reader to be relate to the poem more through vizualizing and their senses. The use of so many analogies helps the reader to understand thte seriousness of what he is talking about.

4) The poem "If you Forget me by Pablo Neruda was about someone that was in love with another person. The person is in love and would like to know if that other person loves them back so that they can be together. The individual will also like to know if they are not loved back so that they can move on and foget about the other person.
ReplyDelete5)I think that Pablo Neruda structured the poem so that it could be understood in a much easier level. The poem was well punctuated and the stanzas also helped alot while reading the poem. The tone that I got out of the poem was curiousity from the person that wanted to know whether they were loved or not.
6) The thing that stood out the most to me was the way that Pablo Neruda used many similies and metaphors to describe how the indiviual felt for the other person. The poem made me feel what the individual was feeling. The agony to know if they were loved or not. Great poem.

4. The poem "If You Forget Me" is about a man who's girlfriend is moving away. He is telling her that if she forgets about him and moves on he will forget about her and do the same. But if she stays loyal and never forgets him then he will love her forever.
ReplyDelete5. The punctuation didn't help me get a greater understanding of the poem because, the poem wasn't very difficult to understand.
6. The author uses a lot of metaphors through out the poem. one metaphor that stood out to me was,"ah my love, ah my own, in me all that fire is repeated,in me nothing is extinguished or forgotten. "the character is saying that as long as the fire in her burns like the fire in him then nothing will extinguish it. This reveals the theme of the poem, which is love.

my love feeds on your love, beloved,

4.The poem is about a man and his relationship. His girlfriend is moving away from him and he is worried about his relationship that if she moves away she will forget about him and their relationship will be lost.
ReplyDelete5.The punctuation of the poem was very different. It seemed as if each stanza was a sentence with a lot of comas.
6.The line that stood out the most to me was "if suddenly you forget me do not look for me, for i shall have already forgotten you"
To me this line is very powerfull he is telling the girl that he would have already forgotten her by the time she realizes that he is gone.
The author also uses a number of metaphors in the poem. His metaphors were very in depth and detailed.

4. The poem "If suddenly you forgot me" it discussed how a man was questioning his relationship with his girlfriend because she was moving away. He wondered when she moved away will she still love him or will she move on to something knew.
ReplyDelete5. The punctuation of this poem did not give me a better understanding of the poem "If suddenly you forgot me" because I already knew exactly what the main focus of the poem was.
6. The lines that stood out the most to me was when he wrote,in me nothing is extinguished or forgotten,"my love feeds on your love, beloved,
and as long as you live it will be in your arms

This poem is about a young man telling his girlfriend what will happen if they break-up. The man uses vivid imagery, to describe the consequences of a failed relationship.
ReplyDeleteThe poem being broken into pieces really helped me. By it being broken into stanzas I was able to take the poem piece by piece which helped my brain get a clearer picture of what was happening.
In the poem the author uses a variety of visual imagery. The author most likely used words like crystal, red, and wrinkled to allow the reader to really get a sense of what was happening in the poem.
Jamil S.
The poem was about a person talking to their significant other about their relationship. It is basically action and reaction. If their lover causes pain, the poet will react, based on the lover’s action. “If suddenly you forget me, do not look for me, for I shall already have forgotten you.” The author will simply feel that they are forgotten before their lover tells them so because of their connection. In this poem, there is no taking back of your actions. On the other note, if each day, their love for each other grows, they will get stronger and exist in an endless state of love.
ReplyDeleteThe punctuation of the poem deepened my understanding because it flowed through my mind and mouth as I thought about it and read it aloud. The poem was broken up and punctuated as a letter which made the reading of it easier.
The similes and metaphors strengthened the illustration of love in the poem. The simple yet complex analogies highlighted the main point of the poem, which was that the poet didn’t want to get hurt by their lover.
